Here we are in February, my favorite month!  YAY!  But before we can really go forward with this month, I want to recap everything from January.

Reading
I read eleven books in January which is ahead of my stretch goal of ninety-six (eight per month) and more than on track for my actual goal of seventy five (about 6 per month).

The eleven books I read were:

  1. The 13th Hex by Jordan L Hawk
  2. The Force Awakens by Alan Dean Foster
  3. Throne of Glass (DNF) by Sarah J Maas
  4. Cut & Run by Abigail Roux and Madeleine Urban
  5. Hexbreaker by Jordan L Hawk
  6. Escape to Pirate Island by Niamh Murphy
  7. With the Fire on High by Elizabeth Acevedo
  8. Hexmaker by Jordan L Hawk
  9. Widdershins by Jordan L Hawk
  10. A Christmas Hex by Jordan L Hawk
  11. According to Hoyle by Abigail Roux
The squares for January were a dark red, with black for M/M pairings, dark grey for M/F pairings, light grey for general or no pairing, and white for F/F pairing.

Writing
I wrote all thirty one days of January for a total of 17.063 words.  I posted four fics (one for Star Wars, one for Cut & Run, one chapter of my Malec Camp HalfBlood fic, and the last chapter of my Malec vet fic).  I also made some progress on my novel.

Crafts
I didn't actually finish anything in January but the 2019 blanket is almost done so I'll count that as a success.  I'm also caught up on 2020 book squares, which is nice.

Cooking
I made chocolate chip blondies one night at like 11pm because it sounded good.
I also made a navy bean soup that was amazing and I will definitely be making again.

Now that the month is a little more than half over, I thought I should get around to updating this. I did say I was going to try and do better this year!

First and foremost, my goal for the year is 75. My stretch goal is 96 but we will see what happens. The book quilt for the year will focus on month read and main ship. Last year was ship and genre, so they should look significantly different. I hope.

The color for January is a deep red.

As of this moment, I've read six books in 2020. Technically, I suppose, it's five because I DNF'd one. I tried, I really did.

January Read books:

1) The 13th Hex by Jordan L Hawk
All Dominic ever wanted was to be a witch and work for the MWP. He might not be a witch, but as a Hex Maker, he could still do his part for the MWP. But crow shifter Rook shows him he is so much more. Short, sweet, lovely story.

2) The Force Awakens by Alan Dean Foster
Doesn’t add much that wasn’t in the movie, BUT, it does explain how Poe got off Jakku which is pretty much the best reason to read this. Well, really, almost any scene with the trio but Poe’s escape was the absolute highlight.

3 - DNF) Throne of Glass by Sarah Maas
I tried but I can't do it. I DNF'd this at 70% because I just didn't care. The last time I DNF'd a book was 2016, so that should tell you just how rare this is. Special girl has to fight to survive and choose between two love interests.

4) Cut & Run by Abigail Roux and Madeleine Urban
An all-time favorite, I love following Ty and Zane on their first case together.  There are ups and downs, and it isn’t the best book I’ve ever read but I love these two stubborn, idiotic FBI agents so much.

5) Hexbreaker by Jordan L Hawk
I loved this book the first time I read it and thought that was that.  I had no idea I could love it EVEN MORE the second time through.  Cicero and Tom, Rook and Dominic, I love them all but Cicero will always have my heart. Adorable dramatic cat.

6) Escape to Pirate Island by Niamh Murphy
One is running from her past, the other is running towards hers.  Both have nothing left to lose.  Their lives collide in the most explosive of ways.  Everything goes wrong and yet, they make it through.  A sweet romance.

To stay on track for my stretch goal, I need to read at least two more books this month which should be an issue.  I have one that I will probably finish tonight and another that will be done in a day or two.

Next on my 'To-Read' list:

You can look on my tumblr for my photo edits for each book.  And the quilt is looking like this so far.
